Project description
Client is a Fortune 500 company global research and development company involved in cutting edge technologies such as flat panel displays, consumer electronics, and digital IT. They specialize in key enabling technologies that drive the digital video revolution. Their work includes processing techniques for the highest quality broadcast digital video, as well as the low bit rate video to be streamed across wired and wireless IP channels.
They are seeking a Communications systems engineer / researcher for R&D of architectures and protocols for next generation home network multi-media communications systems transmitting over unreliable media; emphasis is on MAC protocols, mesh/ad-hoc networking, Quality of Service, multimedia transmission, performance optimization and ease of use.
Responsibilities
Quickly absorb knowledge of clients strategy and constraints, and apply this to working approach;
Perform feasibility study by analyzing technology options for new home network system with emphasis aligned with that cited above;
Develop and promote patentable technology and concepts for inclusion in the specifications;
Represent client by active participation in related international standards bodies and alliances.
Other responsibilities
Work closely with established partners and parent organization as needed.
Some domestic and international travel required.
Must be able to work extended hours.
Must be able to sit at desk for extended periods of time.
Must have command of English language adequate to communicate technical information
Must have Technical skills / Experience
- 5+ years experience in wireless communication systems design/R&D, emphasizing aspects cited above, with proven ability to develop new patentable systems, concepts and technology.
- Strong working knowledge of several of the following:
o Multiple access techniques and protocols;
o link layer protocols;
o scheduling algorithms;
o TCP/IP protocol suite;
o IP-based streaming protocols;
o routing algorithms;
o OFDM systems;
o Quality of Service technologies;
o security;
- Experienced with active participation in standards bodies and/or collaborating with outside parties.
- Excellent communications skills a must; should be self starter with strong initiative and productivity.
