A friend of mine wants to develop and sell a Visual Studio 2005 application - probably a C# one. He has a license of Visual Studio 2005 professional. What does he need to include with the exe? How is all this happening? What licenses are needed in order to be able to sell his software?
I understand the questions are a bit dumb and superficial, but I have never done this before and I probably don't know how to ask specific questions, so please feel free to provide as much insight as you can.
Thanks so much,
Alin

What licenses are needed in order to be able to sell his software? The software he developed belongs entirely to him, and he is free to sell them.
It is important that he has valid licenses of Visual Studio installed on computers he used for his development effort. Other than that, if he is using any 3rd Party Controls / Libraries then he needs to look-up their distribution Terms and Conditions.
As such, there are no complications involved.

If the application is a .NET application, that exact version of the .NET Framework is a pre-requisite for this software to function correctly, and the framework can optionally be shipped with his application - as .NET Framework Runtime is a re-distributable.
PS: I am moving this thread to an appropriate forum. If you really want this thread to stay in Chit / Chat, let me know.

Sid,
Thanks a lot for the information. I never thought is that simple ;).
The thread can stay where it is now, I only thought it would get more attention in the chit / chat.
Thanks again,
Alin

I only thought it would get more attention in the chit / chat.Oh, it still would - for in the Chit / Chat forum, you will find a re-direct to the thread in this forum effectively bringing this thread all the attention it can, from both places. :)

Except you can rarely expect serious answers in the CC forum.
