Although non-disclosure agreements prevent me from naming companies. My firm has helped about 9 different companies upgrade their Web presence to make use of Ajax. 3 of these were Fortune 500 companies.

Strange question :) There is no replacement for AJAX right now. May be after some period something will appear. But now there is no choice.

Well, you can use a hidden <iframe> which in some cases is much easier. But I do prefer AJAX.
