Hi,

I have an issue where when we unplug a USB mouse when an application is running like notepad.exe, the mouse cursor on the activated notepad application disappears. When we reconnect again the mouse the cursor comes back again.

The problem is there only on Windows 2000 with USB support for Keypad and mouse as mentioned in below setup details. Tested on XP and Window 2003 server and it is working fine i.e. mouse cursor does not disappears when we unplug the mouse.

Setup:

- Windows 2000 SP4
- With USB Keyboard and Mouse support ( no PS2 support)

I like to know whether are there any patches available for this issue from Microsoft as it clearly indicates to be Microsoft issue.

Below link talks on similar lines

Thanks

Try reinstalling SP4. Also...Why would you unplug the mouse anyway?

We have an application with three buttons with "tab order" set. Each button in the background executes some critical operations and we are using tab keys to invoke the button operations.

You can think of implications of pressing wrong button through tab key once mouse cursor disappears when mouse is unplugged

You did not answer my question. And did you try reinstalling SP4?

The MS Update talks about The USB Mouse giving problems when removed and reconnected..

My Opinion is that in SP4 they Modded it so that when the USB mouse is unplugged, it disables the mouse (Pointer dissappears) and when you reconnect the USB mouse, It Re-initializes the Mouse .. (Pointer appears)

This sounds like a Quick fix MS Style....
