.Net C++ programming

I have Project that was originally written in C++ using Visual Studio 6.0. I am now using .net and I have converted my project to .net to add more functionality to it. I have added an edit control to my dialog and want to add a variable to the control. I'm trying to use "Add Member Variable Wizard", however, when the wizard comes up, the "Control vaiable" option is grayed out, meaning that it does not let me add a control vaiable. How can I resolve this issue. Appreciate any help.
