Need help in Crystal reports

Hi,
I am new with Crystal Reports. I work in Visual Studio 2005 and did a simple report using Crystal Reports I had included in Visual Studio. I had two problems:

1. I didn't find any code behind!!!!!
2. My boss complains it is too slow

Question: is any bersion of Crystal Reports (Developer edition maybe) which actually allow to write some code behind a report? and, better : a faster Crystal Report?
