how to disable an attribute of a file or folder

i found a few folders which remained hidden even if i switched 'show hidden files or folders' on...
i found out that the hidden option was 'greyed' or disabled in its properties section...
how can i do this...i mean how can i disable the attributes of a file or a folder?

You can't disable attributes of a file/folder. There were probably a system file/folder. If this is the case, it will unhide when you uncheck the box "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)" from the View tab of the Folder Options.
