SQL 2000 and SQL 2005 play together?

Can SQL 2005 including SQl 2005 Express exist beside SQL 2000? If one does not make use of the SQL data type or the VarMax data type cana SQL 2005 DB being used in SQL 2000?

I guess it can. I had MSDE and SQL Express installed on the same system sometime back.

Yes, they can. I have on my home computer installed an sql server 2000 and sql server express.
No problem found so far
