Database probe problem !!

hello M8s.

We have an application here, hooking up domino server on the front end, and oracle 10G on the back end.

Domino doesn't let u hook up and RDBMS directely, so we built an intermediate layer script library .. and use Raw SQL.

Now we want to make the library generic, to hook with any RDBMS.

I need to know, can we use SQL to query what kind of Database is present on the backend ??

I saw this done some where, just need to know if some one has some snipet
