They are currently one of the leading solutions providers in the DC Metro area and currently employ 25 consultants working on various projects in the DC Metro area.
Where you will be working
As a consultant for our client you will work on short term (3 months) and long term ( > 1 year ) engagements where you will be the expert at delivering solutions for clients. A majority of their projects consist of web based applications using ASP.NET (1.1 & 2.0) with SQL Server (2000 & 2005) in the backend. They currently use the Microsoft Solutions Framework (MSF) as the primary methodology for developing software.
What you will do
As a solutions developer/consultant you will work closely in a team of 3 - 6 developers (teams vary in size depending on the complexity of the project) to take user requirements and design and implement a solution. You will also participate in meeting with clients to keep updated on any changes and make suggestions throughtout the software development roadmap. A majority of your time will be spent writing lots of code (it's a great opportunity to really entrench yourself in code) and testing your solutions.
Who you will interact with
For every project you will be part of a solutions team that consists of 2-6 developers of varying skill level. A majority of your time will be spent designing and developing solutions with 80% of your time spent developing individually and 20% team based design and development. Each team has a Tech lead which you would work with and some client face time (up to 15%) may be required.
How your performance will be measured
Performance is measured through a mix of peer evaluation and client feedback. The whole process is very informal and guidance is provided to help strengthen areas that may need improvement. Evaluations are done throughout an engagement without a set interval.
The long term goals of this individual would be to develop their coding and analytical skills to design and develop the best solution for the problem. It is also important to learn about new technologies and how to best leverage their capabilities for each clients unique infrastructure and processes. The company has a loose structure that allows
Skills:
The ideal candidate would have the following skills to join the team and make an immediate contribution:
* A minimum of 3 years of object oriented development experience ( C#, VB.NET, C++, Java, etc..)
* A minimum of 2 years of experience developing web applications using the .NET framework in either C# or VB.NET ( I mean its all the same in MSIL anyway )
* A strong desire to work in teams to deliver solutions using the best technologies
* Good Communication skills (eventually you will be asked to interact with clients, if you so desire - not required)
* Bachelors Degree in a technical field (Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics, etc…)
* A desire to research and utilize new technologies to solve
