Hi all

I'm looking forward to purchase ExeCryptor (www.strongbit.com) to protect my shareware. But before I'd like to know independent opinions/experience if any.

My question is: Anybody uses execryptor? Can you tell me smth about? Are there some problems? Is it cost-effective?

Thank you in advance for any reply

Jean

I don't know what to say about cost-effectiveness... It depends on your shareware quality, cost, market, business volume etc.
What about crack prevention generally it works.
Using security by code obfuscation (also trnsformation) it significantly increases your app size so take it into consideration if you need to protect the whole code. However usualy it is enough to encrypt only registration-related snippet. Then it will not influence on running speed.

I agree with Jim. If your shareware is not so big and $$$ then you can use a simple password generated by your own algorithm, or an elapsed-time timer. I have not distributed software so far but I think it's the best way.

I'd say it depends not just on software cost. Even a product costs 15 USD well protected it will not be downloaded "for free" and you'll get much more "honest" buyers. Thus you'll return soon you spent on ExeCryptor copy.
