We are creating a new team that will focus on solving hard technical problems related to building an industry ecosystem around XML and formats innovation.
This innovative team within Developer and Platform Evangelism (D&PE) is looking for an experienced and self-motivated Architect with deep technical and (some) standards knowledge to help create/recruit this new team, lead the development of the Microsoft interoperability architecture, work with the product teams for architecting selected technologies, drive MS platform adoption in key Governments & Industry organizations and drive strategic customer projects working with the Products Teams, Architects, Evangelists and National Technical Officers.
Primary responsibilities include:
· Create an innovative vision for key scenarios - work with product teams, standards teams, National Technical Officers, and legal teams.
· Help identify and work with the product teams to architect the selected technologies so that they can be consistent and effective - Develop deep understanding and strong working relationship with relevant product/technology unit at Microsoft and deliver actionable feedback for improvement. E.g. design change requests, architectural input, industry input etc
This role will have high executive visibility, as success in this space is considered critical to Microsoft’s long-term business success.
Required Experience:
9+ years experience architecting/designing applications, solutions and systems. Deep knowledge and understanding of one of the following areas is required: XML, Document technologies, Presentations & Web technologies, Data and Databases. Knowledge and experience with core Microsoft products and technologies is required E.g. Microsoft Windows Server family, Office, Internet Explorer, XML, Web Services, SQL Server, .NET, etc. Understanding of the Open Source and Open Standards environments a definitive plus.
Understanding of customer scenarios, challenges and opportunities coupled with demonstrated strategic thought leadership, analytic approach to unstructured business problem solving are required. High level of passion and drive to find and deliver solutions to the same is preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills are required. Demonstrated people and virtual/formal team leadership is preferred.
