Shared variables on the same line as the subreport...

Hi All,

I have a main report and two sub reports and am using CR XI.

One of the fields I need to calculate on my report is based on one figure from one subreport and one figure from the other subreport.

The basic problem I have is that each subreport is a group heading that appears as a group heading on the main report.

In other words, I need the following single line to appear in my main report:
subreportAfields subreportBfields calculatedfieldbasedonAandB

I am vaguely aware of shared variables and that CR can only display a shared variable in a group beneath the one the subreport is in… Please feel free to let me know if I have got this bit wrong!

How do I get my calculated field t appear on the same single line as my subreports?

Thoughts? Words of wisdom?

I have been giving this some further thought...

Does anyone know if it would be possible to print two groups on the same output line of a report? That way, the subreports could run and generate the figures needed for the calculated main report variable and they would all appear on the same printed line.

Can it be done...?

In Crystal Reports (http://www.saveonsupport.com) if you have two groups on the report you can print the higher group on the lower group's output line using the group name list in the field explorer. For example if group one is customer state and group two is customer zip, you can print the customer state on every zip group output line.

Yessss it can b done

1. have a 'Insert Section below' of the same group u r concerned with
2. in the second section display the Shared varible u want
3. the in the 'Section Expert' , 'Underlay Below Section' for the top grouping
(main one not the Section inserted) so to the user it will looks like all in one
line
