hi i have a problem on accessing our network since our administrator change the way we access on computers thru ipaddress and not using computer name.
example:
\\192.168.0.62
instead of
\\computername
How do I configure this?
thanks

This can depend on the operating systems and how you have your computers configured to share.
1. Do you have XP/2000?
2. Do you have the hard disk shared?
3. What else can you give for details?

Everything that needs to share has been shared. The only question that I have to know is how do you change the way you access computers using ip address?
The usual thing is you can access computers thru computername or ip address but my real question is how do you change it and allow only ip address to access computers?
so that whenever the network administrator change it i can always go back and change it without calling him over and over again.

I don't think that you can restrict it to one or the other.

Yes it can be done. I have seen it with my own 2 eyes.

If you have seen it done, then why do you need to know how to do it?

I have seen it work but I don't know how. That's why ask some question in here hoping someone has an answer.
