Overall, the position of Sr Programmer is expected to partner with the organization to:
Responsibilities:
· Support an Internet Lobby design and implementation to include: Instant messaging, chat, tournament play, billing, buddy lists, and user accounting.
· Develop systems for application in real-time networked gaming systems. This includes analysis of network latency and bandwidth overhead, as well as designs suitable for use in limited resource (embedded systems) environments.
· Implement database access code (C, C++, Java, OCI, JDBC, PL/SQL) within the context of online gaming servers, and database access tools.
· Create and interpret appropriate server benchmarks to quantify performance bottlenecks and propose and execute on solutions to enhance and optimize the overall scalability of the system.
· Work with other SCE regions (including overseas travel) to help and diagnose issues in their deployments.
· Troubleshoot and resolve problems occurring in production environments.
Qualifications:
· Understand programming process and basic workflow of receiving tasks and communicating task status/completion.
· Applicant has knowledge of good software practices, revision control systems, and works efficiently and independently.
· Multithreaded C/C++, in Unix and Windows environments (PS2 coding a plus).
· Network and real-time system programming.
· Ability to write efficient, clear (and well-commented), maintainable and portable code. Knowledge of development environments such as Linux and Windows, and tools including compilers (e.g. gcc), build tools (make), IDEs (Visual Studio), source code and asset control systems (CVS, SourceSafe).
· Research, analyze, and create technical design and implementation documents.
· B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent and at least 5 years programming experience. Should have had roles in the career path that include junior software engineer.
