Western Region Consulting Manager
I have an opportunity with one of my clients in the SF Bay Area, currently in Palo Alto but a new location is being added in Downtown San Francisco and this position will be based there. They are a seperate entity within a very large storage player. They operate as a small, unique, incredibly technical entity with solid backing from the mother ship. They are also the hottest company in the bay area. Please take a look at the brief and let me know what you think. We can discuss details then as well. Job Description
As the west region consulting manager, you will continue to build on and manage our existing first class consulting organization. In addition to hiring and managing the team, you will help to ensure high-quality implementations of our solutions. You will ensure successful engagements, maintain customer satisfaction, and drive adherence to key operational metrics.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, manage, and mentor a team of technical consultants
- Participate in the pre-sales process to understand customer business and technical objectives and product requirements, in order to develop effective solutions
- Maintain a basic understanding of all the client's product lines
- Provide support to consultants on technical, delivery, and operational issues
- Ensure productivity of consultants and balance out near-term revenue delivery requirements versus long-term practice development goals
- Review customer deliverables prior to delivery
Requirements
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- At least 6 years experience in customer-facing positions as a professional services consultant or engineer, preferably with an Internet or "Big 5" consulting organization
- Experience with modern software development methodologies, with emphasis on software and hardware architecture, and infrastructure design and development
- At least 5+ years of technical team management
- Experience in a start-up environment and experience building teams
- At least 3 years experience in infrastructure architecture and design of complex distributed systems environments
- Understanding of systems administration concepts and principles for both Linux and Windows
- Understanding of computer server architectures, including peripheral interfaces (SCSI, RAID, Ethernet) and multi-processor designs (SMP)
- Familiarity with systems management concepts, processes and standards (e.g. SNMP); capacity/performance management and tuning; and storage and network management
- Understanding of modern IT production data center and Internet (ISP/ASP) hosting operations
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
- B.S./B.A./M.S. degree
