SAN / Unix Systems Engineer

This is a 3 month Contract to Perm position.

Primary Job Responsibilities

Responsible for operationally excellent management of Unix systems and SAN infrastructure required to keep client's web properties running in a 24x7x52 environment. Plans, installs, tests, and maintains systems and storage arrays. Required to contribute to the selection, design, and implementation of hardware, Operating Systems, and technical solutions to solve business problems. Includes maintaining and improving on strict technical standards as they relate to performance and availability. Ability to serve as a technical lead for project implementation, drive technical site escalations to conclusion and provide a leadership example to junior staff members.

Solid, demonstrable problem solving ability. Minimum 8 years Unix Systems Administration experience; Two of those years should be at a senior /mentoring level. Solaris experience mandatory; expertise preferred. Prefer those with internet service experience, experience Managing/Tuning Database servers, and those who have experience in more than one Unix Variant.
Advanced Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM) experience required; and VERITAS Cluster Server (VCS) or other High-availability service experience preferred. Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose complex i/o issues in one of the worlds largest SAN environments. Hitachi/Brocade experience preferred. Individual must be able to articulate advanced technical topics (e.g. process scheduling, kernel internals, TCP/IP communications at all levels). Shell scripting (Bourne, Perl, Awk, Sed, etc.) prowess. Ability to work in high-pressured but highly structured, customer oriented environment.

Education and/or Relevant Experience:

Bachelors Degree or Equivalent

Willing to consider any Education level; preference given to higher Educational success, particularly in the Computing field. Education is not an acceptable substitute for proven track record in Unix endeavors, but can be used to demonstrate additional aptitude beyond the work experiences.
