MultiSelect in datagrid

I have a datagrid in vb.net. i do want to the user to select multiple rows . i have set the AllowMultipleRowSelection property to false. at runtime when you click on the rows it does not allow multiselection but when you click in the area when the arrow poiner is there for the row the previous row still says highlighted. now there are 2 highlighted . how can i disable this
