I know that Microsoft (at least to my knowledge) didn't support saving the interface configuration of Visual Studio .NET 2003 to a file for backup purposes. The interface configuration consists of toolbar placement, custom toolbars, button placement, and window/sidebar locations and preferences. These things are often reset to defaults when you install plugins and extensions for VS.

None of us really install plugins enough for it to bother us, but you never know what will cause visual studio to reset your personal configuration. In any case, it is my personal opinion and preference to have the ability to back up this configuration.

So, seeing as how Microsoft didn't provide an official way to do this, there has to be some information on the interface config in visual studio, either in registry or a config file.

If someone could tell me how I can backup my interface setup I would greatly appreciate it. If no one really knows *how* to do it, at least tell me the files and registry keys/values involved so that I may develop a program to save the information "unofficially".

Thanks ;)
