Job Title: Software Engineer

Responsibilities
In this position, you will be taking on an experienced software developer and/or lead role in the Folsom Digital Home Engineering in the Digital Home Product Engineering group. The team is developing a number of digital home software platforms to enable PCs to play personal and premium content (pictures, audio, and video) on other home devices using home networks for connectivity. Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Be a technical authority in one or more areas (for example, Universal Plug-n-Play, Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) and/or Networked Media Product Requirements (NMPR) standards, content directory servers, media and network file management)
- Designing and developing components of these platforms, coordinating requirements between stakeholders and other component development teams, and integrating and productizing the final solution
Qualifications
You must possess a Bachelor of Science degree or a Master of Science degree in Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science with five to seven years of experience as a Software Engineer. Additional qualifications include:
- Prior experience with computer architecture, networking and Universal Plug-n-Play
- Fluency in C/C++ and proficiency in picking up new languages or working experience with Java*, C# and extensible Markup Language (XML)
- Ability to design software abstracted from operating system specifics from functionality
- Ability understand and balance both the high level architecture of a multi-site software project, and the impact of your component at the lowest level to the system as a whole
- A keen understanding of the software engineering and quality assurance process
- Versatility in software engineering across the software stack, primarily drivers and middleware but also including applications and user interface (UI)
- Successful history working with external and internal partners to co-develop software solutions and a proven track record of creative out-of-the-box conceptual thinking
- Strong knowledge IA-32 PC architecture with good understanding of T* technologies and knowledge of Windows* and Linux*
- Ability to occasionally travel to other Intel sites and to customers within the United States
- Ability to work well in a team
- Ability to multitask between projects
- Good communication skills
- Assertive, self-motivated and self-directed
- Experience in Windows* and Linux* driver or service development would be an added advantage
- A track record of working collaboratively with multiple disciplines (hardware, marketing, software developers, external partner relationships and end users) would be an added advantage
