Get memory data from the memory window?

I need to output the memory data from the memory window for any type of string using VS .NET 2003. I have no idea where to begin extracting the data from the memory window. Is there any known functions or can the data be extracted using ReadDataMemory? If it is the latter, how do you find the handle of the memory window? Thanks.
