Please can someone help me how to run a program (e.g. notepad) using windows xp registry? Type regedit in Run and then goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run OR HKEY_LOCAL_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

and create a new entry with the location of your program.

Also how to stop a startup program type msconfig in run.. it is very useful

how to create users and how to set security settings on users. You can create users in the Control Panel in User Accounts.. you can set them as Limited or System Admin for security.. I think more advanced security options are available in Control Panel -> Administrative Tools

The only part of a user that is kept specifically in the registry that is easy access is just profile information. I do not believe you can create users using the registry.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
