How do begin to make an application that can communicate over the web with other clients. An example would be like MSN or P2P clients. Ones that are not run in a web browser and use the internet to communicate via one- another. I'm on an internet computing course but have never made a real application before.
- How do you set up the communication between the two? Obviously you probably need some kind of servers, but is the communication done with sockets? Does it need to?
