*** I'm having a problem while trying to access into the internet through lan network ***

The are 2(two) machines in (LAN) network.

1. Machine1 ---> Mac1
2. Machine2 ---> Mac2

Those machines are having following configuration :-

IP Address Subnet Mask Gateway DNS Server
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mac1 192.168.100.1 255.255.255.0 100.100.0.1 100.100.0.1
Mac2 192.168.100.2 255.255.255.0 100.100.0.1 100.100.0.1
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Machine1 is the machine which accesses the internet through the Gateway(100.100.0.1) and using DNS Server(100.100.0.1). Machine1 is using a broadband connection.

Now the problem is, how can Machine2 connect to the internet using the connection of Machine1, Without Internet connection sharing ?

The Operating System may be either Windows 98 Second Edition or Windows 2000 Professional Edition.

The simple answer to this question is, you don't.

If the internet connection is not shared, no more than one computer can use the internet.

If by internet connection sharing you mean the internet connection sharing function that comes with MS Windows (MS has an annoying habbit of naming the tools they create with generic terms), you might be able to find some software that runs on Machine1 and acts as a router for Machine2, I can't even begin to tell you where to look for such a thing, and I don't have the words to express how bad and idear that is.

The only solution I could possibly recommend would be to get a hardware router to connect both computers through.

I don't recall if Windows ICS runs on 98 or 2K, do a search of the MSDN (http://msdn.microsoft.com).

But, it really stinks. You can't route more then one subnet through it, it gets majorly confused if you try. Either get a hardware router (the best choice), or buy a software router for Windows (Nat32 comes to mind: http://www.nat32.com/).

Download and install "NAT32": http://www.nat32.net Or WinProxy (I forget the address).

The bottom line is that you will need some kind of routing software, if you do not want to use ICS. Even better, buy a hardware router, and plug both machines into that.

Please don't multi-post your thread. I gave an answer in the "General Discussion" forum.
