InstallShield Developer 8 help!!

This will probably get moved but I didn't know where else to put it.

I have InstallShield Training (Learning Basic MSI Projects with InstallShield Developer 8) and it isn't helping. Any ideas of other books that might be helpful?

I'm trying to do an upgrade without the install-if-not-installed...

In 6.3 we wrote a code to find the .exe file and then install the upgrade. There isn't code here in 8 but you'd think there would be a way to upgrade without install! :(

Because at the time I was having a delima... and am again actually! The patch only works with one version so if I have several versions of my program out there, it won't fix it. I got it to work, but only on one version. Not good...
So I thought I would do an upgrade and that isn't working either. More truth: I can't make it work. Installshield Developer 8 is kicking my back end here!

How do I make a service release for different versions? What text can I reference or can someone show/tell me the ABC's of IDEV8?
