Ever try to make your windows partition an ext2? Well I have and I'm screwed :) .

Here's my question. I've found the below link...
http://www.runtime.org/

Now, what I'm planning on doing is taking the hard-drive from my borked machine and hooking it up to this one that actually works. Then installing the above mentioned software and start fishing for my beloved files. Now comes the fun part.

How do I register (have XP Pro recognize) my old hard-drive? And then, is it possible to transfer the data that's on other drive (the one that's not screwed up) to my old hard-drive to via USB or something?

You could try downloading a dos based disk editor tool which will allow you to change the partition type, and then once done XP should recognise it.

Just do a google search.

Well if you are going to use their utilities then you shouldn't have a need for the last two questions. Since it seems you have another PC involved [with PRO installed]

Important installation note:
Do not install GetDataBack on the drive you want to recover! It is strongly recommended to proceed as follows:
Install the program to another computer, which doesn't' t have any problems. If you have a choice, choose the computer which has the most RAM and is the fastest. Attach the drive you want to recover as a slave to this machine. Make sure the drive is jumpered correctly and is recognized by the BIOS.
After downloading GetDataBack run the setup.exe. The setup wizard will guide you through the installation process.

NEW: If there is no way to attach the drive to an extra computer you can run GetDataBack from a WinPE boot CD-Rom.
