Problem trying to add user in adm. group under win 2000

Hi everyone. I have the following problem:
- I have a domain account in a LAN.
- I want to make that account to have administrative rights on a specific pc.
- I log on as local administrator, then go to administrative tools-> computer management->Local users and groups->groups->adminstrator and press add to group.
- Then I choose the user I want from the domain and when I press OK a message box appears saying:
"The specified domain either doesn't exist or couldn't be contacted"
Any ideas why this happens?

The error message may be misleading.

Be sure to check your event logs and that your event logs are set to gather successes and failures - at least temporarily.
