Stamp Image at Arbitrary Location (and free mem) in JavaScript Possible?

I would like to be able to position my image anywhere in the browser window but once i place it at that location i would like to essentially stamp it onto that position in the browser window and free my variable resource memory BUT STILL keep that image (and its placement) still visible in that browser window ... Is this possible in Javascript? Would i need to use CSS?

Can someone provide me the code to do this ... I am new to Javascript
