I wonder if there is any function to convert the accented vowels in a string to its counterpart non-accented vowels.
For example I want to convert:
$chain="prêt-à-porter" to "pret-a-porter"

here you can find all built in string functions in php
http://www.php.net/manual/en/ref.strings.php
you can use e.g.
q = str_replace("á", "a", $q);
for more details read this here
http://de.php.net/manual/en/function.str-replace.php
