I have 2 PC (= LAN) sharing 1 modem and 1 external IP address. Usually ISP gives only 1 IP address to every modem connection. How to force ISP server to give one IP address more, each one for my PC ?

Robert MrViggy June 7th, 2004, 12:23 PM Cable modem and DSL modem, yep this is possible. You'll need to look at the docs for the modem, and set it up in "bridging" mode. Regular modem, ie. 56K, this is not possible (AFAIK). However, I think this topic is off topic for this forum (getting a second IP really has nothing to do with network programming). If you mean that it is possible only by hardware switching, you are right. If one thinks that it is possible by an appropriate networking programming, then it's another case. And finally, if one thinks that it is totally impossible, then the topic is closed. codeguru.com
