can any one tell me what does the term Basic Earth Imaging (BEI) mean ?

It has sth to do with geophysics and seismics. I think it is the proccess of converting some raw seismic data to an image, which is like a map on which the geophysical data is displayed. I found some links, from which the following seems most interesting (it's from a class):
