Hi,

I'm currently running a proof of concept using some third party software that uses SQL Server & Ananysis Server.

Problem is that the default settings for each are woefully unacceptable in that a cube build (name for the series of processes the third party software runs) takes many, many hours. I have tweeked these settings with not too much joy.

Can anyone suggest the optimal settings.

My test server has 3GB memory, and dual 2.4GHz processors (using hyperthreading, so that it appears that there are 4 cpu's, but there aren't - just the 2). It is a HP DL380 server if that helps. Unfortunately, upgrades are not an option for the POC.

I have all the necessary tutorials on tweeking the server settings (process buffer, max conservation threshold etc), but what I need to know is what works best for you, cos tweeking does nothing for me! Even ran out of memory this afternoon after one dubious tweek....

Cheers
