When my computer does too much reading/writing operation it freezes (e.g. opening 2 or more programs at once or when a few processes do reading/writing operations e.g. creating backups.) This happens only on windows 98 partition of my hardrive. On linux it can perform much more reading/writing operations and nothing happens.

I have another computer with windows installed and it doesn't freeze as much as this one. There could be some settings I can reconfigure but currently Iam clueless.

Anyone know what the problem might be? It must be a software problem because linux works fine.

There might be a problem with the Windows 98 partition you have. Try reformatting the partition and installing Windows 98 back.
