Hi. For my technical writing class I have been tasked with interviewing someone in the field that I am planning to work in. I have been finding it hard to get in contact with computer programmers and one interview I had scheduled fell through. Would anyone be able to spare 10-15 minutes to answer some questions regarding your use of writing on the job? I would greatly appreciate a response and I thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Brent Schooley

If you maybe posted the questions and allowed people to respond I'm sure you'd probably get what you needed...

In a traditional sense, maybe. But for this assignment it has to be a phone interview, so that would not work.

not sure a phone interview will go over too well with developers. I personally can't stand them (phones that is)....

ok now with the phonney story...I spent 3 years without a phone, most peaceful time in my life...all my coworkers were like 'hey buddy what do you do in an emergency?' answer: I die...

/Phones are evil...

I'd be happy to help IF you cant find anyone else (ie someone a bit more senior who knows more etc)

(PS: Mick: theres something really wrong with you man... I cant live without my phone, how else am I supposed to look important and watch other people talking on their phones and pretend they are my friends and maybe if I could kill one of them in their sleep and dress like them I can fit in.... :o )

No I mean all phones ;) Cell phones are the worst, ranks up there with people that can't live without their PDA's...watches, cars...etc.

back to the original poster... is someone going to be checking that you actually called the developer? I mean I can't see why a phone call makes it different, unless this is some type of journalism course or what not...

here in Australia we still need people peddaling the power generators just to get electricity...

so, these wireless telephones must be a new invention then...

Well, in which country do you live? I wouldn't mind doing an interview, but I guess it would be easier to do it over an Instant Messanger-type program.
