vc.net samples' problems

From msdn website I downloaded a zip file which has a bunch of vc.net samples. When I am trying to open them, I get error that I don't have the right version of VC.net Does anyone had this problem before? Am I missing some service packs for VS.net?

Also, I have the latest DirectX, which is 9.0.

maybe you missed something like an important note on the download page... (I know I do it all the time)
