I am a mostly self-taught amateur with a single Fortran class in college as my only formal programming education. I use Apple Macs as my computer although I live in a windows office. I taught myself Foxpro and wrote some pretty sophisticated programs but I have migrated to Mac system 10 which does not run Foxpro. Therefore I am trying to pick a new database software. It's between File Maker and 4th dimension. From what I can tell I'm not ready for MySQL or other more complex applications yet. I write programs with a good bit of code and a complex user interface (menus, lists, buttons, etc.). Please give me your ideas on the pros and cons of each application. I would especially like to hear from people who have used both. Thanks for your help.
