no just a good friend in the BC vancouver area, she's not technical but she's canadian :p We are a lot of help aren't we :)
I forget how she said they work their immigration cause she's always trying to get over here....are you a resident there? have a work visa or something? You could try applying in the states for a work visa, if your degreed and have technical skills eg: engineer you should be able to make it through...
but then you know new york isn't that far from you, I don't recall but isn't there a train running or at least some connecting service...you might want to look in northern new york, and just commute across the border...heck it's only 57 miles to altona new york...I know people that commute more than that in maryland...

No I am not a resident, nor I have work visa. I am a German Citizenship - I have lived there for over 10 years and now I am looking for some new opputinities here. I would need a sponsership from the employeer.

ohh no german that's like saying I'm half french :p and you know we are still eating our freedom fries here.
Yes h1b visa's work that way, which is why you should look in northern new york and consider commute times etc, worth a shot, and use monster.com hotjobs.com dice.com etc to submit resumes to.
but then doesn't montreal have anything there? Just because you need a sponsership doesn't mean you'll get turned away, it's not a big deal on the employers part, just paperwork...if you have something they need then chances are they will get you sponsered...I was all ready to get the pen and paper out (well not me but I(we) had to interview him) for a device driver developer that really suited our needs, hard to find em...heck and pay his relocation but alas funding for that position went bye bye...so it's not as bad as you think it is, unless of course your not that good of a developer :p

As I read through some of your posts and threads, I find that you like America !, right :).
As Mick already pointed out, I think it s not that necessary to boat down to New York, staying where you are is also good...Canada and US separate only by a...road. If you like, when you have free time, I think you're also allowed to camp or freely travel down to NY,VT,PA. etc.
Ahh, you should also travel west to visit Tom Frohman, he lives next to the beautiful lake...:)
It s a little wierd to me when I heard you said you already lived there for 10 years. True... You live in Canada but speak only German ? (Your English doesnt soundlike what you said). You 're the same as many of my friends here: Staying in Japan but speak only English though most of them are not from English speaking countries...:)
