The company
Our client is a specialist software house focussed on developing
innovative, leading edge data management and analysis solutions.
Current projects and a host of new solution designs have prompted a
demand to expand and strengthen their development team.
The person profile
The people they are looking for are highly motivated, experienced
software developers not frightened to express their own ideas,
whilst enjoying the give and take of an innovative team
environment. They will be capable of working to deadlines and be
good at managing their own time. The projects will have a high
degree of technical challenge and will involve taking solutions
from inception through the entire development life cycle.
Required Skill Set
They are seeking senior developers who must have the following
experience as a mandatory:
žLinux or Unix experience (RedHat 9, SUSE, AIX is a bonus)
žJavascript/HTML/DHTML
žPERL (SOAP, simple socket programming, general scripting is a
bonus)
žUnderstanding of XML (EGIF, SOAP, SVG is a bonus)
žStructured Design Methodology
žC/C++
Any one or more of the following specific skills is required in
addition to the above:
žLEX/YACC or BISON
or
žC/C++ Socket Programming (SOAP is a bonus)
or
žC/C++ Encryption and Hashing
or
žC/C++ low level ODBC - Provider side (JDBC is a bonus)
or
žDatabase Design / Tuning / DBA (DB2 and Oracle is a bonus)
In addition to the above, the following skills are highly
desirable.
žRelational Database Querying (DB2 and Oracle is a bonus)
žUse of Query Tools & Query Generators
The working environment
They are looking to recruit capable and keen to work from home in
an electronic ?virtual office? environment. In the New Year they
will be establishing a southern presence in the Thames Valley to
balance their offices in Chesterfield, those preferring to work from
an office, will be based here.
