Doing that on an exsisting system might be a bit of a pain.
Assuming that you don't have any unpartitioned space on you harddisk, and you are not planing to add an extra harddisk, you have to resize an exsisting patition, this is possible using tools like partitionmagic, but it's not something I would recommend.

Assuming that you are using WindowsXP, go to 'administrative tools'->'computer management' and select disk management. Here you can see the layout of your harddisks, on the most basic setup you will have one harddisk, containing one partition, which takes up all the space on the disk. If you were to delete this partition, your entire system would be gone, so that is a BIG NO NO.

Perhaps you could tell us some more about your system ?

My system ? Okay but actually I dont knwo what to say when I hear someone ask me to tell him/her about my system ? Please tell me what you mean by that ? you mean OS, processor's speed,type of CUP, right ?
I think if I partition my C drive, I accept to delete and format all the files in my C drive...

We were discussing harddisk partitioning, so it would seem most natural to talk about your harddisks, specifically what it says in the disk management section of the computer management app.

Anyways if you are going to nuke your system, that does make things a lot simpler. One word of advice though, make absolutly sure you got all your important data backed up to floppies or CDs.

I hope you know how to install windows (If not this might be the last time we hear from you :eek: :rolleyes: )

Durring the windows installation, it will ask where to put the new installation, you have to tell it to delete all exsisting partitons, Then create a new NTFS or FAT partition, to serve as the C drive, this should be at least 2-4 GB. Setting secondary partitions can then be done at the same time or after the installation has completed, using the 'Computer Management' app.

It should be just about the same for Windows2000.
'Control Panel'->'Administrative Tools'->'Computer Management'

Go to 'Disk Management' in the Storeage section

Assuming that there is any unpartitioned space on your harddisk it should show up as a black collum with the text 'unallocated', on your harddisk next to the blue collum denoting your C: drive, left click on the black collum, select 'new partition'. You should then be able to tell it that this should be an extended partition, and then tell it how big it should be. You need to do this for each logical drive (D:,E:,F:,G: etc) you wish to make.
