Rather than navigate the microsoft.com website, I really hate that bugger, maybe someone can give me some information here. Is Microsoft Equation Editor free? Where can I download/buy it? Thanks,

Looking closer at microsoft.com, there is no mention of the program anywhere at all on the site, even in the product list, except as a component of Office. I'm running office 97 (works well enough for me... no need to upgrade), so perhaps it is only part of the newer office editions?

I don't think that any of the Office parts are free. That is, you may use the Equation Editor in your app (as it is a COM server), but you are not allowed to redistribute it. The same applies to the spell checking engine or to the MS Forms.

I think that there has to be a list of redistributable files somewhere. As a rule of thumb, anything not on the list is not redistributable.

I think the equation editor comes with word 97 through the present with the distribution disks but you have to consciously install it. It won't install in the default installation of word.

In that case it's a good thing I still have the installation disk... oh wait. :D Oh well I can live without it. Thanks guys!

If you don't have the install disks then you can get the editor
here. http://www.dessci.com/en/
