I have to implement the printing for my application. Rather than waste a shed load of paper while I am testing, I wondered if there was some sort of "pseudo printer" I could install which instead of really printing would just display the page in a window on my screen (like print preview but external to my app). Does such a creature exist?

There are a few PDF printers out there. Acrobat Distiller is the best. Though there is at least one free one that doesn't quite work 100% (CutePDF printer -- http://www.acrosoftware.com/Products/CutePDF/Printer.asp).

P.S. I'd be interested if someone knew a more faithful free PDF printer. :D

Thanks, Kevin, I'll try that CutePDF thing. I just need to see if I can get permission to install it now :)

You also can try any printer that supports PostScript. You can send your printing works to a .ps or .eps file and watch it with any graphic tool. (if it can open those file format)
