Hi!

It is possible to make a hardware independent image from
Windows 2003 Server?
When Yes give me some information how to make it?
When Not tell me to what extent is it possible to
create a hardware independent image of a Windows 2003 server?

should I use 3rd party software for this...e.g. from PowerQuest?

when you say image, i am presuming you mean a OS disk image..

It is impossible to create a hardware independant image of a windows image, if you could we wouldn't be paying microsoft their ridiculous prices and everyone would be rinsing free OS software from Microshit...mind that.

You could use Norton Ghost to create an image of your disk, however you need to remove all SID's if you wish to push the image onto another machine (SID are security identifiers used on computer accounts, user accounts, group accounts, service accounnts and they are unique--this is how NT security works), you can downmload a utility from microsoft called SID Remover(i am not too sure if this is what it is called). So the closest you can get to a hardware independat image is this.
