Mouse left button &Win98?

The Windows98 does not react to the click of the mouse's letf button, so I can only use the right button. But the mouse's left and right buttons are OK. on other machines, so what's wrong is it?

Are the properties of the mouse on the control pane OK? Maybe there is some propertie that makes the mouse act improperly.

I have changed the mouse settings so the right button works as the left button as a temporary measure( in control panel), but the left still does not work. if the re-installation of win98 can solve the problem or any other good measures?
