What games do you play ?
I like to play Microsoft's Age of Empires I ,II , Unreal Tournament and Need for speed.
In Old days of my childhood I liked to play prince , dave , xatax, lion king , aladdin etc.
I think playing games is one of basic need to become friendly with comps. What do you think ?

You are right! I bought my first computer only for playing. It was a Amiga 500 from Comodore and my favorite game was "North and South". What a great time ! But then i got bored and started to write apps for the Amiga. That was my first step in the world of programming and since then i have never played again. Since my brother also got a playstation, i never use it. I dont know why !

I play Diablo every now and then in a LAN. I used to play more often, but I currently don't have the time any more. I aslo played Prince Of Persia, Wolfenstein 3D, Doom and so on years ago.
I think that playing games can dissipate stress, frustration and aggressions - as long as you are able to keep the games and the reality apart. I do not think that playing games is "unserious" or "childish" like some people say.
But, as I said, computer games are no substitute for a real life.

I like racing games, mostly rally and roadster.
Also * with the voice of a participant in a rehab group *
"I am an Unreal Tournament addict"
I also play the "Spam the CodeGuru forums" game sometimes.
Gabriel and Yves are the main villains in it, who i have to heroically fight. Also it seems i am a doomed player, as the villains always win ;)
P.S. Yes, apart from UT last months, i actually dont play anything.
Games take too much precous time, and are too addictive. IOne should be carefull with all that "gaming".

I like to play with the Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator (M.A.M.E.)
When I do it, I go back in the time some years until those old good times when I used to escape from school with my friends and we went to play that big dusty machines with those lovely, funny old games.
:( :( :( (there is not a criyin smiley, these are the most similar)

Time is the most valuable thing I have. I think that Civilazation III is a great game, but it's not worth playing because it takes literally dozens of hours to play a complete game.

Solarflare: Reading your signature I have remembered something. I had an old game for DOS called "The ancient art of war" where you could choose your adversary, and one of the possible choices was Sun Tzu. It was the most intelligent.

I used to play games, on my own as well as in LAN with friends. I've played quite a few different games.
One of my favorites over time was civilisation, then I have enjoyed a lot the warcraft/starcraft games (though I've not tried Warcraft III). But in network we've done all sorts of games:
Doom/Duke nukem/Quake/UT/...
Starcraft/Total anihilation
NFS/ Death cars/ Star wars racing/ ...
But now I'm not really playing anymore 'cause I don't really have time. I don't even find the time to do all I'd like to. The only games I'm still playing are just when I want to make a short break, so it's games like card games, taipei, ...

The board game of all board games is the main reason to run Linux on your computer : Shisen-Sho ! It's... just great ;)
Apart from that, I like MMORPGs. I have played three of them (T4C, Ultima and Helbreath) and I like the concept. It creates a real community between players that extends far beyond the "what are your stats ? How did you get that weapon ?" etc. Since I like role-playing games (on paper) it's quite interesting to participate in a big community with thousands of other players. But yes, you have to be careful not to spend too much time on it.
Apart from that, I like strategy games like Warcraft/Starcraft. The most memorable for me are Dune, Master of Orion, XCom and Warcraft 2 :)
Nowadays I don't play that much, just sometimes a game of Warcraft III. Battle.net is pretty hard ;)

I used to play a lot...errm...several years ago...I still have several Amiga's which are still some of the best computers ever made to my mind... ;)
Anyway, back these days we played a lot. Since then I most-likely did not play very often...of course there was Wolfenstein etc.
Nowadays as many others seems to have the same problem - I do not have time to play a game...I usually buy a game in order to play it and then leave it unopened und unused somewhere on my desk...additionally my current PC is far away from being able to run those games anyway...

I realy enjoyed the time of games.. but now i have only time to play on sundays ....:(

I find that, in general multiplayer games are more entertaining than single player. You are interacting with real people with real personalities, rather than circuitry. Sure, single player games are still fun (I mentioned I like CivIII - up until a month ago it was single player), but multiplayer capability always improves them.
That's part of the reason I used to play starcraft a lot: Battle.net was the best games server around at the time. The fact that it was multiplayer outweighed all the little problems there were with the game.

Yeah solar, that's the main reason I like MMORPGs, although it's not necessarily based on defeating somebody else. :)

Well, not a desktop computer game, but the most recent game I have had the leisure time to enjoy was Final Fantasy X on the PS2. Also, I absolutley adored Parappa the Rappa on the Playstation. As for desktop games, I still haven't evolved much from SimCity 3000. Unfortunately, I don't have much time on my PC at work to play, and all I have at home is an old G3 mac I sometimes play Bugdom on...
To give an idea of how out of the gaming loop I have been recently, my last shooter game I played was Duke Nukem...

Not sure about that, Amn. I did play a demo version of some game that had as .exe name SC3.exe it might have been starcontrol. The idea was nice, but the UI in MOO2 was better I thought.

Guybrush Threepwood. Elaine was the governer of Melee Island.
My neighbour got it on his Amiga 500 and we finished it together. We actually wrote up a solution and sent it off to some Game magazine. The week afterwards they published a solution but it wasn't ours :(
I loved the swordfights :)

Some years ago, I found 'Doom' in my ex-girl friend's computer which her ex-boy friend installed. I played little bit and soon fell in love with 'Doom'(and computer games in general). My ex-girl friend hated me playing game too much but hey! it was her fault to have a 'Doom' in her computer! (She never played that game and didn't know that game was there anyway...)
Now, all the girls I've met complain that I like game too much and I always say "Come on, I need to save the earth and sometimes the Universe!. I've slained so many aliens and monsters just for that!'
I'd better go to game programming but somehow I'm stuck in Scientific stuffs now:(

Right now I do not have that much space in my appartement for all of them but basically yes I do play on the AMIGA since I still like it pretty much...and of course 'North & South' is another quite nice game...

Monkey Island was so great, that i bought it again for my PC with the same Graphics and same sound. The Game does only run in the Dos modus ( this reminds me to much on my old system Amiga 500 ).
