My mouse pointer just turned into a big square. I've been using Win2000 for about 1.5 years now and this is the first time it's ever happened.
I'm scanning my system for viruses now. But I'd like to know if it's a bug in the system, virus, or a cracker on my computer trying to bug me.
I'm behind a router/firewall, have Zone Alarm Pro firewall software installed, and I don't think that I have any malicious porgrams listing to ports.
Any ideas?
Just finished scanning. No viruses.
Oh and I was only running a IE on this site and google.

Happened to me. It was a problem with the graphics adapter, or its driver. The cursor turned into a black square and would stay so until reboot. The problem was mostly triggered by some DirectX the graphics adapter didn't support correctly.

Yaa happened with me tooo....And I thought it's windows bug..
There is one more bug , when you hibernate the system and restart , then the mosue Icon changes color from white to black many times without reason. this perfectly happens all the times if I restart system after Hibernating.I am using Windows 2000 sp2.

Is your pointer a member of the International Empleyee Organisation ?
If so, they might have decided to go out on a demonstration towards ratifying their rights against the nazi policies of Windows operating systems environment which in your case seems to treat the rather badly :)
