If you've read the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series, like I have, then you are probably spending between 2-3 hourse each day groveling at the feet of super-author Douglas Adams. Okay, that's great. Anyway, I just found out that he made this game - a very good one in fact - which is entirely text based. The game is based on the story, but you don't need to know the story to play. There are parts where I get stuck and was wondering if anyone else would like to waste time playing this enjoyable game as I already have done. :D (http://douglasadams.com/creations/infocomjava.html)<--- click on the face!

I'm stuck in an area which is a series of rooms, containing Eddie (the computer), a door which needs to be bribed or something, a hatch, an improbability drive, etc. It's fairly early in the game. Maybe you could give me a little help as to what I need to do next ;).

Yeah. I don't know where your at exactly, but this is where it really deviates from the book as I remember. You need to get the spare improbability drive from the engine room. And there's this rig up you do with tea (something to do with brownian motion) to transport you to different places (dimensions?, space/time?). You need fluff. Lots of it. And I think there were a lot of hidden things at the beginning that I didn't do at first and found out I needed them later (like with the Vogons...). Anyway, if you are stuck somewhere and need some specific instructions, I can try to help. But it has been a loooooonng time...

And the game lies to you a lot. I remember that quite well. It was the first game I had ever seen that told you nothing was there and if you kept looking, it would finally admit it lied (or something like that) and tell you something completely different...

I can't seem to get the glass case (in the Vogon hold) open... every time I enter the correct word on the keyboard it explodes anyway. :(:(

I think you have to make sure to press the switch on the case every time you come to that point, as it is randomly different each time. But. if I remember correctly, the code it gives you by pressing the switch should get you the plotter.
