Am not sure where to post this but so i have selected this group anyways hoping that i'll get some help.

I have an oracle 9i db and the i have oracle 9i client installed on my machine and what is the best driver to use.. is it the microsoft's ODBC driver for oracle or the Oracle's OraHome92

I have a lot of problems with ODBC driver for oracle, i cannot even connect sometimes.

Using OraHome 92 helps but is very slow.

Mine is a three level architecture i have my asps calling in my vb components which in turn calls my DBwrapper written in c++ to connect and build my html page. I run on a win2000 server.

Anyways, i tried installing the latest MDAC but the problem still continues.

Am i doin something wrong? or should i use only oraHome92 which is oracles driver or what?

Hope somebody can me help me on this. i have a lot more problems putting my vb components in com+. Thats a different story anyways.

Thanks to all the guys who view it and thanks to anybody who try to help me.

Oracle 9i does have its connectivity software. I got mine shipped with the sample database. rdbc I think they called it but I will have to double check with the documentation for the exact name

hi platinum,

I have the client software and i have the oracle 9i driver installed too. Theres a story that oracle drivers are slow connecting to the database and getting the results.
This is okay if u get a small recordset but getting a very big and too complex recordset, it obviously is worth mentioning.
But sure lemme know if its possible for me to use the same components under com+ too.

Anything for me is worth trying and i am complete out of ideas.

thanks once again
Sam
