Hi,

I have the following configuration: AMD Duron 1200MHZ, 256MB RAM , MB with onbord soundcard Avance AC '97 Audio....
I've just installed Linux Mandrake 8.2 on my PC and the soundcard was not automatically recognized by the Mandrake.
I'm new to Linux and i don't have too much time to read a fully tutorial, i just want to make my soundcard work.
So if you know the answer for installing such a soundcard on such an operating system please let me know
Regards.

Well, first of all, it would probably be better to post this on a hardware or Linux forum ;)

But as far as I know, many of the integrated "soundcards" are not really soundcards and require a lot of processing from the operating system. So if the motherboard maker (resp. the soundchip maker) doesn't provide a Linux driver, then chances are slim it's even supported under Linux. The best bet is to get a real soundcard and you'll even benefit from higher quality ;)
