I am seeking opinions as to the best (easiest, versatile, support) platform (java, vb, etc...) or 3rd party apps to build a report writer. Report in question is approximately 75 pages in length and would like formating similar to word or adobe. Additionally there are various placing through out the document that text needs to be changed/inserted/added based on values in a DB (currently SQLServer). Each field within the report has distinct criteria for creation of final text.
Currently trying to utilized Crystal Reports 8.5 to accomplish this however due to the number of tables/data elements (33 tables 550+ fields) and the difficulty it creating field level selection criteria I am evaluating additional options.
Any thoughts, ideas, concerns or information is greatly appreciated.
