WinXP Professional Issue

When I try to reboot or shut down, I always get a message saying that XP can terminate the program "explorer.exe". After 2 unsuccessful attempts of trying to close this program properly, XP finally reboots or shuts down. Looks like this problem is not affecting my computer but I can't figure out why this is happening.

I'll appreciate your help.

you need to sign up for passport i think, but it's a pretty good site. that's how i got my free copy of xp :D
our school (BU) has a MS student rep who got a bunch of copies and in return of signing up there and getting 10 points we got win xp for free. and vs.net academic as well
